Chetak. replied: "Cheddar cheese scones. 2 3/4 cups self-rising flour 1 tablespoon sugar 2 teaspoons baking powder 3/4 cup minced fresh chives 1 cup (packed) coarsely shredded extra-sharp cheddar cheese 3/4 cup (or more) chilled whole milk 2 large eggs 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard Sesame seeds Preparation Preheat oven to 425°F. Sprinkle large rimmed baking sheet with flour. Whisk first 3 ingredients in large bowl. Stir in chives and cheese. Whisk 3/4 cup milk, 1 egg, oil, and mustard in small bowl. Gradually add milk mixture to dry ingredients, tossing until moist clumps form and adding more milk by tablespoonfuls if dough is dry. Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface; knead just until dough comes together. Pat out dough to 1-inch-thick round. Using 2 1/2-inch-diameter cutter, cut out scones. Gather dough scraps and repeat. Transfer to prepared sheet. Whisk remaining egg in small cup; brush over scones. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake scones until golden on top and tester inserted into center comes out clean, about 14 minutes. Cool scones on sheet 5 minutes. Transfer to basket. Serve warm. Date Scones 2 cups all-purpose flour 2 tablespoons granulated sugar 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/3 cup butter, softened 1/2 cup buttermilk 1 large egg 1/2 cup chopped and pitted dates 1 teaspoon grated orange peel Icing: 4 tablespoons granulated sugar 2 tablespoons orange juice Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease and flour a baking sheet. In a medium bowl blend together flour, sugar, baking powder and baking soda; mix well. Add chopped butter and using a pastry blender or two knives scissor-fashion, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Add chopped dates and orange peel in the flour/butter mixture. Make sure you separate and blend dates well, as they have a tendency 'to stick together'. In a small bowl mix the buttermilk and egg together, add to the flour/butter/date mixture. Turn dough onto a floured surface. Add flour as you knead the dough, if necessary. Knead 12 to 15 strokes or until nearly smooth. Use preferred method: 1) SCONE :Shape into an 8-inch dome. Using a serrated knife , score the dough into 8 wedges ( do not cut all the way through the dough). 2) BISCUITS: Shape into a circle maintaining a thickness of about 1/2-inch. Cut into dough with a biscuit cutter, cut dough into 2-inch circles, reworking the scrapings as you go. Place scones/biscuits on cookie sheet; bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until they reach a golden brown color. Remove from oven, place on cooling rack and drizzle with icing while still warm. Icing: In a small bowl mix sugar with orange juice. Mix until sugar has dissolved. Brush over scones using a pastry brush. Makes 8 scones."

barb m replied: "yogurt with fruit, boiled rice - brown or white with steamed veggies, baby carrots and other cut veggies with ranch dressing, boiled pasta with chick peas and chopped garlic eaten cold."

Funny1 replied: "You should try the Healthy Choice or SmartOne meals....they are SOOO yummy. There are SO many different kinds so you won't get bored with the same old same old. They are high in sodium so watch what else you eat during the day. Or also another great thing is ham roll ups with cheese. Just place a piece of cheese on deli ham and roll it up. You could also add a tortella and make it a wrap. Buy a bunch of fruit and put it all together and have a fruit salad. A great healthy fruit dip is: 2 cups of Cool Whip Lite, a dash of nutmeg, 1/4 cup of brown sugar, 1 tablespoon of cinnamon. Mix it all together and enjoy with your fruit. It's such a treat!!!"

Nathalie K replied: "Lettuce wraps are a great alternative if you dont eat bread. the fillings are endless. but here is one diced chicken crumbled bacon diced tomatoes shredded cheese minced onion tossed together with ranch dressing ...or any dressing you prefer.place on a large leaf of Iceberg and wrap.."

what are some good healthy bag lunch ideas? im in high school and instead of eating cheeseburgers or french fries and i wanna lose some stomach fat so what are some healthy bag lunch ideas?

Lovin my Army Man replied: "Good simple sandwiches. Like BLT or Turkey. and a piece of fruit."

Dune replied: "Get a loaf of decent bread and make sandwiches with good stuff like lettuce, tomato or lean meat."

P. S. D replied: "The simple sandwich ideas offered by others are great, take it easy on the mayo and skip butter. Also give yourself some healthy treats, like some small carrots, a flavored yogurt cup (nonfat), or a small jelly sandwich without any butter, just a little jelly. A good breakfast cuts down on your munchy urges and will help you lose weight."

yogiT replied: "veggies & salsa pita & hummus bean & rice salad wrpas with veg & chicken"

vikas s replied: "if u wanna lose weight let your mama cook u some whole wheatgrain dishes like chapati rolls filled with veggies etc"

sophie replied: "oh dear........ya u must lose some weight...please follow these steps.......avoid eating cheese, potato, banana, and try to have a very few amount of oil in your food....this may help you because all these food has fats.....try to have sandwiches, more & more fruit salad....carrot and radish will be very helpful......but continue to your regular diet do not stop eating rice and all....just try to remove a little amount of food from your diet.....hope this will help"

Scott C replied: "Lots of vegetables, lean meats like turkey and chicken, whole grains, yogurt"

Can i get some brown bag lunch ideas for work? Im tired of taking the same thing every day. The most original idea will have the best shot at best answer.

kiss2envy replied: "put ♡ in it"

york_hellen replied: "I buy "Lunchables" and take those....or just some type of sandwhich and chips...or whatever leftovers I have from the night before."

dutchfam7 replied: "Take cut up pieces of fruit such as watermelon, cantelope and musk melon and maybe pineapple. It is fun to snack on too. Have fun with your sandwiches....one day egg salad sandwich (which sounds real good right now), ham with all the fixing the next day, tuna after that. You can even prepare a salad with all the trimmings the night before. A great container for salad dressing is a baby food jar or the plastic baby food jar. Just buy one and empty it. It will only cost you about 40 cents. Wash it out and put your dressing in it. The plastic ones work better but they cost about a dollar but they have a nice close lid with them."

cc replied: "What the person above me said, Lunchables are good, but I don't know if you have them over there, pasta salads are an idea, you could make them yourself, and they aren't too expensive either.Plus they taste really good!?Or if you're feeling lazy you can buy the ready made ones from the shop."

Dad replied: "Quick n easy n healthy, plus a little indulgent: - Your favorite crackers or pita bread. I like Wheatsworth. - some packaged hummus - washed baby spinach - you get it in the bag salad section - pre cooked chicken bits like for fajitas (or whatever meat you like - a strong flavored cheese in a small chunk. Maybe cream cheese but keep it small. - blueberries, raspberries - some yogurt, whatever flavor - mix it all up and scoop w/ the crackers or bread, or use a wrap if you want to make a burrito. Oh I forgot, drink chocolate milk, it's really not so bad for you and it's so indulgent. If you're uptight, you can use skim milk and a mix like Carnation instant breakfast or Ovaltine."

askthetoughquestions replied: "Smoked turkey on pumpernickel bread, w/ reg. mayo. Cape Cod chips and chocolate milk."

Christopher replied: "hot pockets with tossed salad and strawberries"

tutter replied: "My favorite is wraps. Toss some of last night's meat in there, some lettuce, tomato, and you have to top it off with 'Three Cheese Ranch' salad dressing. Even my kids eat this ( minus the tomatoes) It's so quick to make. Another fast thing to do is make your own ' Fruit and Yogurt' cup. Layer frozen fruit and your favorite yogurt. By the time lunch rolls around, your fruit is thawed and all is delicious!! Just make sure it's in a tight sealed container...won't taste so good off the bottom of the paper bag. Carrots and hummus is really satisfying too. But not everyone likes hummus. The 60-pepper hummus is really good. Oh man...' askthetoughquestions' just made me so hungry!"

simply_moon replied: "Lunchables are NOT the thing to take. They are terrible for you. My suggestion is when you make dinner, make a little extra and store it in one of those glad ware containers that can be frozen. You don't necessarily have to eat the leftovers the next day, you can store them in the freezer, labled of course so you know what it is, then the night before pop it in the fridge to thaw overnight. Next day, thanks to the modern convenience of a microwave, you have a great lunch that's hot and feels like you're having a treat because it's not a sandwich. You can also go to your local Italian rest. and portion out a lasagna or something that freezes well and do the same thing."

bodybutternut replied: "Just take a Lunchable and forget the Brown bag."

bootsjeansnpearls replied: "my daughter hates sandwiches so when she has to take a brown bag lunch to school for field trips she takes: peanut butter crackers, grapes or an apple, raisins and some carrot sticks. It seems like junk food but it is equivelant to a peanut butter sandwich, a veggie and fruits. You can add a dessert but you probably won't want to since this seems like " cheating " already. Think outside the box and come up with your own ideas of what you love to snack on that is good for you or in the " not so bad " catagory and you will not be bored any longer."

haley b replied: "take a regular shikabob stick and the normal lunch things on it like sandwitch things such as ham turky beef cheesa exetera"

Mollygog replied: "crackers, cheese, a couple of slices of proscuttio(spelled wrong I know it) some cashews fresh seedless grapes and a live squirrel monkey. That oughtta satisfy any craving."

sherbear replied: "sh*t...too many people answered before me...i really can't tell ya anything new that they haven't already said....but NO ONE TOLD YOU THIS: be careful to not grab the bag-of-sh*t left out on the counter from the night before...god wasn't that fun!!!!"

angeloffaith777 replied: "me? sorry...LOL. wanted to give you a smile."

Brown bag lunch ideas for work? So far, ive done bolongna and cheese and peanut butter and jelly. I meant, any ideas on what i can add during thhe week besides those two sandwiches?

Alias_Smith_and_Jones replied: "That's disgusting. Try separating the ingredients into different sandwiches - for instance, JUST peanut butter and jelly and not the bologna and cheese. Bet you'll feel better, too."

obdnow replied: "Sandwich with cheese on one slice and honey on the other. Put them together and toast the outside of it. Wrap up and eat later. Another suggestion is Marmite and cucumber - quite delicious."

geeksgalore replied: "Brown Bag Tips If you have to make a lot of sandwiches, try the assembly line method: Lay out slices of bread, spread each slice with butter, mustard, mayo or any other spread you are using. Go down the line and add toppings, finish with top slice of bread, then wrap. For easier spreading, freeze breads first, then make your sandwiches. This can also help keep foods chilled and it will be thawed in time for lunch. Use frozen ice packs to help keep cold foods cold. Freezing drinks like juices and iced teas can also help keep foods cold, and who doesn't prefer a cold drink (keep in mind that the containers are likely to sweat while thawing, so wrap you food well so it doesn't get soggy). For a nutritious and low calorie lunch, pack some raw, or lightly steamed (then chilled) vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower or carrots. Add a small container of dip (or individual package of salad dressing) and you've got a great snack or lunch addition. Hummus, whether used as a dip or a sandwich spread is a great addition to any lunchbox. Don't forget stuffed tomatoes! Stuff with tuna or egg salad or even potato, pasta or rice salad. A thermos can keep things hot as well as cold, which opens up a host of lunchtime possibilities. How about soups, or pastas or even stir-frys? A wide mouthed thermos container can be the brown bagger's best friend. Just fill with piping hot food and seal. It will stay hot until lunchtime. Tired of the same old sandwich? How about cold pizza for lunch? Don't forget salads instead of sandwiches (perfect for those cutting carbs). What's exotic for us in normal fare in Japan. Sushi Rolls make terrific lunchbox fare. Frittatas are great served cold and are perfect for packing in a lunchbox. Savory tarts, pies and quiches can often be served at room temperature and add an elegant touch to any box lunch. If you and your co-workers bring your lunches to work, why not start a Brown Bag Club? Divide the week up between 5 co-workers, each day a different person brings brown bag lunches for the group!"

Pauly replied: "Leftovers from last night's dinner. That's how I make it easy for me to take lunch to work. I just make a little extra and take it to work the next day. Sometimes this creates a whole different flavor or texture after sitting in the fridge for the night."

mary_jo91 replied: "tuna mayo with peppers chopped up in cooked chicken with mild grated cheddar pittas with humus dip (EW) fish paste n salad pittas MARMITE!"

cstinkerbell6969 replied: "Ohhhhh poor sweet thing u! My hubby loves his home made subs I make for him. A nice big ol hoagie bun- roastbeef, ham, and turkey, lettuce tomastoes onions pickles cheese and peppers with spicy mustard. Or take a meatball sub but store it in a coffee thermos and it will stay warm until u r ready for lunch! Or make burritos and store them in the coffee thermos too! U poor starvin thing u! A man cannot live on just bologna"

What are some good Brown Bag lunch ideas for adults? this is for a 27 year old man, I pack the lunch before I go to bed typically

PammyO replied: "I like peanutbutter sandwiches, chips and a sweet treat."

IamMARE replied: "Left overs from the night before. You're going to cook dinner anyway, so just throw an extra piece of chicken on the grill, or add an extra hand full of pasta to the water - It takes no longer to cook 2 meals than it does 1, and since you've got to clean up after dinner anyway, why bother making more mess by having to prepare a brown bag lunch? Just get some separated rubbermaid lunch containers, and as you are cleaning up after dinner, put the leftovers together for a lunch. If you don't want to eat the same thing twice in a row, plan on going out to lunch on Monday, or bringing in a sandwich, then Tuesday's lunch was leftovers from Sunday dinner."

Chetak. replied: "Club sandwiches. 3 fillings between 4 slices of bread. Cut into fingers or cubes. Pinwheels. Lay an assortment of fillings across the bread and roll up. For the Club Sandwiches and Pinwheels use bread that is sliced length ways. Rolls. wrap Asparagus spears, Seafood sticks, Shredded chicken, etc in a slice of bread at the diagonal. Bake scones until golden on top and tester inserted into center comes out clean, about 14 minutes. Cool scones on sheet 5 minutes. Transfer to basket. Serve warm. Wrap the sammies and scones in clingfilm. With the scones, they are nice cold, split and spread with butter. I do both faces, and put back together. You could nuke them if there is a MW handy at work."

hammer replied: "For my husband, I pack sub style sandwiches, ziplocing the produce in separate bag so sammy doesn't get soggy. Wraps, spreading chive cream cheese on totilla so keep the tortilla from getting soggy, I also avoid tomatoes on these and use sprouts instead of lettuce. Classic peanut butter and banana Home made lunchables. Tiny bit of good mustard, I use a cup or cookie cutter to cut sandwich meat in to circles, cut square cheeses and ritz. Tuna Salad with crackers. Soups, Chili, pastas in thermos Dinner leftovers. Snacks - little debbies, chips, grapes, orange (peeled), veggies and ranch, whole pickles, string cheese, cheddar blocks chopped in to sticks"

Brown bag lunch ideas? any and every creative lunch recipe you have :)

MRose replied: "I'm afraid I'm rather simplistic when it comes to my favorite sandwhiches. I like the classics. Peanut butter and jelly, tomato and mayo (very good) on toast, and ham and cheese."

soxrcat replied: "Pack a baguette, sliced long-ways. In a zip-lock bag or small plastic box, pack meats (if you eat them) slices of cheese (ditto) veggies like tomato, lettuce, cucumber, peppers, and pickles. Tuck in some packets of mayo and mustard, or other dressing. Assemble your submarine sandwich at lunch, and the veggies and dressings won't make the crunch of the baguette soggy! In the winter, bring a container of hot, homemade soup to go with the sub sandwich. Fill a container with diced peaches, raspberries, and cut up grapes for a summer dessert. Round it out with a glass of cold cow or soy milk!"

ChocLover replied: "I usually go down to the local bakers on my lunchbreak and choose a filled roll or sandwich. Favourite filling is chicken and sweetcorn. They also do pizza slices which are nice on a cold day and cups of soup, tomato is the best."

spookybee1074 replied: "wraps are wonderful. I make my son wraps of grilled chicken, salad greens and ranch dressing and he loves them. I also like leftover meats like meatloaf, taco meat, sliced roast beef. Here is a typical brown bag lunch that I give my son. A chicken and salad tortilla wrap, watermelon cubes, string cheese and a small gatorade. It combines all the food groups: bread, meat protein, dairy, fruit and rehydrating liquid. Hope this helps"

Asawa replied: "this is for lunch recipe, here it is. Broiled mozzarella and tomato bruschetta Toasting the bread lightly before adding the tomatoes helps keep the bruschetta from getting soggy. You can add additional garlic or other herbs to the topping, if you want to get creative. Ingredients: • 1 long French or Italian bread • 1/4 cup (50 mL) olive oil • 1 clove garlic • 1/2 tsp. (2 mL) salt • 1/4 tsp. (1 mL) pepper • 2 cups (500 mL) chopped ripe tomatoes • 1/2 cup (125 mL)chopped green onions (about 4) • 1-1/2 cups (375 mL) shredded mozzarella cheese Preheat the broiler element of the oven. Cut the bread in half crosswise, then slice in half lengthwise — making sure the two halves are as evenly sliced as possible. Arrange the four pieces of bread — cut side up — on a baking sheet. In a small bowl, stir together the olive oil and garlic. With a small brush, brush this oil over the cut sides of the bread. Sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper. Place under the broiler for 3 to 5 minutes — until just lightly toasted. Remove from oven. Stir together the tomatoes and green onions. Spoon over the toasted side of the bread. Sprinkle with shredded cheese. Return pan to the oven and broil just until the cheese melts and begins to bubble — 2 to 4 minutes. Cut bruschetta into sections and serve while still hot. Makes 2 to 4 servings (main dish or accompaniment)."

Brown bag lunch ideas for 4 yr old? My 4 yr old is starting preschool next week, and they stay an extra hour for Lunch Bunch one day per week. I need some good ideas for a sack lunch that she can eat on her own without much help (teachers warned us that they won't be able to do much cutting up of food, etc). No peanut butter (theres a nut allergy in her class) Nothing that has to be heated up, and nothing that has to actually be refrigerated (ice pack in a thermal lunch bag) Never done this before, so thanks in advance for any tips!

Vivian replied: "basics- fruit, sandwiches, muesli bars, custard, fruit in jelly, biscuits, pancakes, bread rolls, sultans, carrot, cheese"

¤¤Je§§ica¤¤ replied: "crackers and sliced cheese cheese sandwich granola bars carrot sticks"

DrPhilamina replied: "*cold-cuts and/or cheese sandwiches, mix it up by using bread, pita pockets, buns, tortillas *cinnamon-raisin bagel with cream cheese *hummus or tzatziki with pita pieces, carrots, cucumbers, celery to dip"

CobyAndAndyMom replied: "Most kinds of fruits and veggies can withstand not being in the refrigerator for as long as she'd be in school. The protein/main meal component is a little tougher, but half of a sandwich (turkey ,etc.) should stay cold enough with an ice pack in a thermal pack. Same with yogurt and granola, a bagel with the cream cheese already on it, or cheese and crackers. I worked at a preschool, and some of the kids would bring things in a bag with an ice pack and they'd be perfectly fine when 11:30 or 12:00 rolled around. And I have say LunchBrunch is the cutest thing I've ever heard of!"

Daybreak replied: "Well, a sandwich would be my first suggestion. Something like ham or turkey would be fine with an pack in a thermal lunch bag. Then find somerhing healthy and delicious that she likes. Maybe carrot sticks, celery, jello jigglers, etc, My only other tip would be to take those treats from the pesky packaging and place them in kid friendly packaging that she can open with little assistance from the teachers."

alisun3 replied: "Ugggh, I feel your pain, I have this exact same situation for daycare but 5 days a week! Good thing is my daughter isn't complaining. She's 3. We do pasta and marinara or a anti-pasta salad. It is kept cold all night in the lunh box and pretty much room temp by the time she eats at 11:30. I also just started putting chicken nuggets in there, the breaded, pre-cooked, Tyson ones. She likes ketchup on nuggets so I throw a fast food ketchup packet in there for her. I do a lot of fruit cups and apple sauce cups, mini boxes of raisins, etc. TUrkey or ham and cheese sandwiches are the other. THose hold up well. Ask the teachers too, they'll tell you what the other kids are bringing. Good luck!"

hhh replied: "Give a variety of small items, a few of each item. Because it is only once a week it is more the thrill of eating with her friends then actually what is in the lunch and she'll probably be sharing. Cheese cubes, (they'll be fine with an ice pack) grapes, carrots, pretzels. You can also do a cold pasta salad if she would eat that- my daughter loves it. A Thermos will keep things warm for a long time if you wanted to send hot dogs or mac and cheese. From experience messy items like spaghettios are not the best choice for a school lunch."

mamato3 replied: "i send my 3 year old with chicken over lettuce, pudding and a drink. or some coldcuts , grapes and a peice of chese."
